Course goals
After this course you:
- acquired knowledge for understanding and judgement of research articles in the various areas of the cellular life sciences.
- got an overview on the available methods to study the function of biomolecules and cells in living organisms. Relevant organisms are microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, plants and animals such as C. elegans, zebrafish and humans.
- got insights into how research groups conceive research plans and address research problems
- are able to develop interdisciplinary research plans for analysis of molecular and cellular systems via biochemical, biophysical, cell biological and systems biological methods and technologies.

Content
The course is intended for MSc students of Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences to supplement their knowledge.
The lingua franca in this course is English. You will acquire skills due to reading of and working with scientific literature, scientific discussions and written and oral presentations. The main focus of cellular life sciences is on the functioning of biomolecules and cells in complex systems. There is particular attention to the systems biological aspects of biological processes in various organisms ranging from microorganisms over plants and animals to humans.
