After this course:
- the student has knowledge of the most important aspects of the European integration and internationalizing of criminal law.
- the student has knowledge of the international cooperation on criminal matters.
- the student is able to analyze and apply national criminal law in light of European integration.
- the student is able to apply (EU) legislation and (EU) case law in a concrete case, solve this case and to present his arguments and findings orally and on paper in a coherent and convincing manner.

This course will give an overview of the most important aspects of the European integration and internationalizing of criminal law. An other important part of this course will deal with international cooperation in criminal matters.
Attention will be given to some topics as: International criminal law, jurisdiction, Conventions of the Council of Europe, enforcement mechanism of the institutions within the EU, transnational cooperation, European judicial area, mutual recognition/harmonisation, Extradition/European Arrest Warrant, Eurojust, Europol, European Public prosecutor, European Convention.
