Inhoud
The Research MA programme aims to train students to become creative, independent researchers that qualify for a position as PhD candidate or for researchers' jobs in the private or public domain. To be successful in these work environments students need a broader set of skills than just their in-depth knowledge of the research topic of their choice. This course helps students to develop these competencies. Through a variety of assignments, notably the presentation of written work, interviews with staff members, the writing of a book review, and the organization of several academic and non-academic events, this course teaches students practical skills that are indispensable for their functioning as independent researchers: knowledge of their research field, academic and general writing skills, organizing skills, and the art of oral presentations.
Through interaction with the alumni of our programme, the course also explores career perspectives within and outside academia. To allow students to do group work and to develop strong ties among them, the course is mandatory and it is taught in weekly classes in the first, third, and fourth block.

Career orientation:
Through the organization of excursions and the interaction with the alumni of our programme, the course also explores career perspectives within and outside academia.
