After completion of this course, students have deepened their knowledge and understanding of widely applied tools for energy and material analysis.

The course will put the developments of the energy and materials system in the context of sustainable development. Focusing on the interaction between the energy and material nexus, it will elaborate on various tools and methods to analyze the energy and material system (scenarios, potentials, MACCs, costs & learning, LCA, decomposition).
Next to a series of lectures and tutorials, the students will be trained in writing a research proposal in which the methodological skills acquired in the course needs to be applied to a topical challenge in the energy & materials field.
