Students are able to write, in a clear and scientific style, a coherent research proposal that addresses a relevant question anchored in science or mathematics education and proposes a functional methodological approach to answer this question.
Inhoud
Topics (roughly one per session)
1. Methodological quality of a research proposal and article. You use the quality criteria of Heinze Oost to judge the quality of proposals and articles: anchored in the domain, practical and theoretical relevance, preciseness, functionality and consistency. 
2. How to write a research proposal (structure of introduction, theoretical background and methods section). You use the move-step model to write an introduction to your research proposal. 
3. Coherence and chain of reasoning of proposals and articles 
4. Types of literature reviews. You also learn to structure your theoretical background section 
5. Design-based research compared to other research strategies 
6. Quality of research questions. You learn to structure the methods section of your research proposal. 
7. Scientific integrity (e.g., fraud, plagiarism, ethics, informed consent, data storage, anonymous report) 
8. Presentations of research proposals focusing on the skeleton: title, goal, main concepts, research question, methods.9. Peer feedback on students' own research proposals. 

Time 18 hours sessions (9*2), 3 hours discussion with research proposal supervisor, 45 hours homework (9*5), 39 hours for finishing the assignment (research proposal in English)
