Inhoud
This course introduces students to the scientific study of first and second language acquisition, separately and in comparison with one another. This course addresses the phenomenon of language acquisition from two angles. The first half focuses on the acquisition of English as a first or native language (L1) during childhood (from birth to age 5). The second half focuses on the acquisition of English as a second or foreign language (L2) during adolescence and adulthood. Similarities and differences between the two processes will be addressed and investigated.

This Course is part of the In-depth Courses Language Matters.

LAS and TCS students who follow this course as part of the core curriculum of their major, need to complete a compulsory preparation course/assignment. See for more information: https://tcs.sites.uu.nl/
