Course goals
At the end of the course, student should have a profound understanding of:
 
  • Basic pharmacology
  • Advanced pharmacological concepts, e.g. receptor models and mathematical modeling
  • in vitro and in vivo pharmacological tools and methods
At the end of the course, students should be able to:

- simulate pharmacological phenomena by using MS Excel
- analyse pharmacological data by using GraphPad Prism
- plan, prepare, perform, analyse and interpret pharmacological experiments
- reflect on matters related to philosophy of science
Content
The course presents advanced topics of pharmacology, focusing on key elements essential in practical pharmacological research. Special attention will be paid to different receptor models and mathematical modeling of receptor phenomena. In addition, the relation between scientific experiments and knowledge is approached from a philosophy of science point of view.
