Course goals
After the course the student:
  1. is familiar with the organization of the Graduate School of Life Sciences;
  2. is capable of consciously choosing between all options offered by the Graduate School (projects, profiles, courses and electives);
  3. has knowledge about professional attitude, scientific integrity and the ethics of animal experiments;
  4. is familiar with  the concepts of valorization and cooperation with industry;
  5. has a more detailed view on his future as MSc;
  6. is introduced into the principles of academic writing (article, grant, thesis, proposal and for the general public);
  7. is introduced into the Utrecht Life Science community;
  8. has made a flying start in building his life sciences network.
Content
Period:  4-8 September 2017

Course description
Introducing Life Sciences is a compulsory course for all Life Sciences Master students. The ILS course is in the first week of the academic year and will cover all aspects of academic education, including science integrity, career development, and valorisation & industry. During this week there will also be time to get to know each other and the School's staff. Together with 10 Life Sciences seminars this course will count for 1.5 EC.
