Course goals
The aim of the course is to introduce you to bio inspired approaches and the philosophy behind it. In addition, you will learn and apply a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), construct a Business Model Canvas (BMC) and perform an Ecological Quick Scan. This will help you to function in a multidisciplinary team as a biologist at a design and innovation table.
Learning objectives:
After completion of the course you are able to:
  • describe the development of the field of bio-inspired research
  • describe the main bio-inspired research and design methods
  • recognize and reflect on doing or working with bio inspired research and/or design paradigms
  • perform an LCA, ecological quick scan and construct a BMC with emphasis on the value proposition

Content
The course will consist of theoretical component, landskill training, LCA, BMC and ecological quickscan. Before the course starts we will ask you to do a small pre-assignment that will be used in the course.

From the 3rd week onwards, the Value proposition, LCA Ecological Quick scan and BMC will be done in groups unitl the 10th week.  These will be guided by lectures and meetings. The last week
