In the clinical skills lab you will learn clinical skills, such as problem analysis and the use of diagnostic assessment tools and intervention programs from a transnational perspective. You will observe experienced professionals and you will discuss with them what are important clinical skills. Your group will be supervised by an university professor and together with her you will choose several diagnostic assessment instruments and intervention programs that you may want to learn to use. You may translate (parts of) these assessment instruments and treatment methods in your own language, taking into account the transnational perspective. Besides a more theoretical component, you also must gain some practical experience with these instruments and methods by working with families with whom you can communicate in a language you both speak: either through internet or by finding these families in the Netherlands.

Learning objectives:
Improvement of personal clinical skills; increased knowledge of diagnostic assessments and of treatments; the ability to reflect your own learning process and academic career; ethical aspects of performing as a scientist-practitioner; acquire an honest and critical attitude concerning research projects and results; and a respectful, responsible, culturally sensitive, professional and customer-oriented attitude towards students, colleagues, respondents, clients, etc.
