Relation between course aims and assessment

The course goal is to be able to individually write the Masterthesis based on scientific theories and research methods applied to an issue in the field of child, family and education studies. The assignment of the thesis proposal at the start of the course, the feedback by the supervisor and peers during individual and group meetings prepare the student to hand in the optimal final version of the thesis at the end of the course to be graded by the supervisor and second judge.
Inhoud
This course teaches you how to set up an academically-sound research project, to carry it out, to process the data obtained, and to give an individual written and oral account of the project, all as independently as possible. You will be supervised by a thesis supervisor from the programme (individually and/or in a group) and will attend a number of lectures for information and for in-depth study of your thesis subject. To conclude this part of your studies, a thesis symposium is held at which you present your research work – either oral or poster presentation – to fellow students and other interested professional parties.

Course language

This course is taught in English. Dutch speaking students have the option to write their thesis in Dutch. See the course manual for further details.
