Inhoud
Digital Transformation is about gaining a competitive advantage by implementing new information technology.
This transformation process is often a challenge for an organization. Old legacy systems, not IT Savy enough, lack of understanding the Enterprise Architecture are just a few reasons why Digital Transformation is difficult.
In the DTA course we will discuss different strategies for Digital Transformation and the relation with Enterprise Architecture.
Enterprise Architecture itself will be discussed to give an understanding of the different models used, and as a preparation for the assignment.
In the assignment parts of the Enterprise Architecture of an organization will be described and analyzed.
The outcome of this analysis will be discussed in the contact of Digital Transformation.

Course form
Lectures, tutorials, assignments.
Lectures and tutorials will be mixed.
The time available will partly be used for discussing literature, and partly be used for discussing the assignment. Also if possible some discussions will take place in a Future Lecture Space (depending on availability and Covid regulation).
Assignment: in teams of 2 or 3 students a real life organization will be described and analyzed in the context of Digital Transformation.
Since the assignment can't be fulfilled without the proper training in the methods and tools it is required to be present during the lectures and tutorials.

Literature

  • "Enterprise Architecture at Work" (4rd edition), by Marc Lankhorst et al. An electronic version of the book can be downloaded from the Utrecht University library.
