Inhoud

The Computing Science Colloquium is a series of talks organized by the Computing Science Master Program.

These are the requirements in the course:

  1. You need to attend at least 25 colloquium talks (30x for students that started before the academic year of 2016/17).
  2. You need to give one colloquium talk.
You can spread the completion of those components over the whole length of your study. Ideally, you give your presentation in your 2nd year, because by that time you should have the needed background to present an advanced topic. Please also note that there is a requirement that you must have your Colloquium obligation completed, or almost completed, before you can start your thesis project. Check out the information at our MSc Project page.

Some staff members also organize reading clubs where participants study papers and meet regularly to discuss them. Students are also welcome to participate, and usually the experience is greatly appreciated. You can take up to 5x attendance in a reading club's sessions to count as your CS colloquium attendance, provided the reading club's is relevant for your program. Do provide a proof of your attendance to the CS colloquium coordinator. This limit of 5x applies over all your participation, and not over every single club you participate in.

If you plan to participate in a conference or summer school with topics that would strengthen your program, you can count your participation as up to 5x colloquium attendance (to be clear, this limit of 5x applies on ALL your participation, and not for every single conference you participate in). Again, do provide a provide a proof of your participation.
