This seminar-style, discussion-based course brings the concepts and theories learned in the course 'Thinking Arts & Society I' to bear on current events and debates taking place around the world in the field of the Arts. The Arts will be placed under analysis as a politicized domain and the many relationships between art practice and ideology, cultural politics, violence and statecraft will be examined closely. All course material is supplemented by case studies from the field. Cases will change from year to year, depending on currency and relevance, and have specific bibliographies composed of theoretical readings, news, feature stories, essays, etc.
