- to analyse sources with the help of theoretical literature;
- to translate Latin source texts and interpret them in their context;
- to take part in a scholarly discussion;
- to report results in spoken and written English.

We study the development and characteristic features of medieval Latin by reading texts and discussing related secondary literature. The title of the Research Seminar is Latin in Transition. The seminar focuses on the period of transition from classical to medieval Latin.
During seminar meetings, we will read and analyse source texts and discuss secondary literature. Each meeting is prepared by one of the students (“referaat”) who introduces the source text and takes the lead in the analysis. Papers are to be written on one of the source texts discussed; the perspective of the paper can be literary, linguistic, historical (students are free to choose).
The entrance requirements for Exchange Students will be checked by the International Office and the Programme coordinator. Acceptance is not self-evident.
