After this course:
 
  • the student is able to successfully integrate the methodological requirements of an external perspective in legal research.
  • the student is able to formulate a clear research question involving such an external perspective.
  • the student is able to structure and carry out research in order to answer the research question.
  • the student is able to present the outcome of his research in a clear and structured way in a paper or other written form.
Inhoud
This is one of two research projects which have to be done by research students.

Research project I
This research project should be linked to the insights derived from the course Methodology III: ‘External perspective’. The research project has to show the student can successfully integrate the methodological requirements of an 'external' perspective in legal research.
The research projects is carried out under the supervision of an experienced professor or associate professor. The topic can be devised at the student's initiative and the supervisor can be approached by the student.
To develop a research project, you will consult with the supervisor you have found, to formulate a research question which will then be further elaborated. Senior researchers connected with the research programmes may also suggest topics for research, a list of which will be made available during the annual research project meeting
As a research project you can write a paper (indicatively 20 to 25 pages). But there are various manners of completing a research project. For further information, see the LRM information guide.
At least one of the Research Projects should be written in English. The thesis should also be written in English unless the supervisor agrees with a thesis in another language. In this case an English summary should be added.
