The Research MA programme aims to train students to become creative, independent researchers that qualify for a position as PhD candidate or for researchers' jobs in the private or public domain. To be succesfull in these work environments students need a broader set of skills than just their in-depth knowledge of the research topic of their choice. This course helps students to develop these competencies. Through the creation of a weblog, the writing of book reviews, the presentation of written work, and the organization of seminars, lectures, and the annual Research Master Conference, this course teaches students practical skills that are indispensable for their functioning as independent researchers, including knowledge of their research field, academic and general writing skills, and giving oral presentations. The course also enables students to build a community of peers.
