Inhoud
Performance Research Lab: Act I aims to support and develop the initial phase of the students’ research trajectory. Students are introduced to and practice a range of research methodologies in performance. Through cross-sections with the courses of the first block, Why Theatre?! sessions and presentations by (PhD) researchers and practitioners, students specifically get acquainted with three types of research methodology in performance: activating theoretical frameworks, ethnographic/contextual analysis and dramaturgical research. Students form small groups and collaboratively explore methodological consequences of these research strategies. Tools, strategies and methods are provided in the sessions and in presentations, and are thereafter practiced and evaluated. By the end of this course, students will be acquainted with the methodological scope in performance research; they will be able to critically select research methodologies and know how to make them ready for use.

Career orientation:
Various (PhD) researchers are invited into the course, which adds to insight and knowledge of current developments in the workfield.
