In-depth study of a theme in Art History leading to an understanding of some of the approaches to the field of Art History in general and one of the given subjects in particular.
Inhoud
Among possible subjects:
- Northern art before 1600: technical and iconographical issues, art theory, prints  (Jeroen Stumpel);
- Northern art before 1600: religious iconography, rise of genres, art theory and international relationships (Victor Schmidt);
- Genres in Dutch painting (Peter Hecht);
- The shaping of the canon of Dutch and Flemish art (Peter Hecht);
- Organizing the arts in Holland and Belgium in the post-Napoleonic era (Annemieke Hoogenboom);
- Brussels as the gate to Paris: the 19th-century avant-garde and its conquest of the North (Saskia de Bodt);
- 19th- and 20th-century art periodicals in Holland and Belgium (Saskia de Bodt and Hestia Bavelaar);
