This elective course provides an opportunity for MSc students to acquire profound, knowledge on current scientific topics in (veterinary) pharmacology and toxicology and provides background and training to master the process to do so. Apart from specific expertise, participation in this course will contribute a critical attitude and skills in assessing and evaluating pharmacological and toxicological effects and learn you to pose the right questions for elaborating translational aspects of drugs and toxicants (life-long learning).

Each topic of this course departs from a recent high-interest scientific finding in (veterinary) pharmacology and toxicology and is an exercise to recognize, describe and present its potential value for future application in veterinary medicine. You will provide feed-back in evaluating the choices made, the approach taken, and the results obtained to other students working on different subjects and you will receive such feedback yourself. This active role is an important part of the course and will be considered in the final assessment. Although this elective is designed as a stand-alone module, you may consider elaborating a subject linked to your personal interest or fitting with your MSc track. Selected high-interest topics are offered in the detailed course info. Please note that for elaborating a topic of your personal preference, you will need to inquire at least one month in advance of the start of the course (late proposals will not be considered). The course is suited for students from all stages in the MSc track.
